Introduction

We worked with SLR to deliver a range of digital solutions including sustainable business cards, a room booking system for desks and parking, an automated supplier management onboarding tool, and a comprehensive client portal.

How do you lead a team of developers across continents and time zones to create groundbreaking sustainability solutions? At NashTech, we’re helping our global client SLR Consulting to do just that. 

Dale Bradbury, Global IT Director at SLR: SLR is a global leader in full-spectrum sustainability solutions. For over 30 years we’ve been advising clients at every point of their project lifecycle. 

From strategic advice to on-the-ground technical support, SLR specialises in sectors such as the built environment, consumer goods and retail, financial, government and communities, healthcare, infrastructure, manufacturing and industry, mining and minerals, power and technology. 

We needed a flexible resource pool to augment our own team. But one that can move quickly and not have to learn our processes, or for us to learn theirs, every time we want to engage. 

Not have to go through a formal quotation process every time we wanted to get some development completed. 

We needed a partner that could not just deliver but also to advise us through the process, blend their expertise with our own in-house capabilities to create solutions that would work for SLR and our clients.

Dale Bradbury, Global IT Director at SLR: When looking for a partner there’s quite a lot that we’re looking for.

Capability for starters. Do they have the skills that I need and experience in the right technologies allowing them to gain immediate momentum.  

Scalability. Do they offer the ability and capacity as projects come online quickly and often at very short notice.  

Do they offer flexibility. Can I reduce the capacity when projects end is critical to ensuring we can offer cost-effective solutions to clients.  

Professionalism. Do they have the processes and controls in place so I know they can get on with the job without me having to spend time managing them. 

  

Stuart Simpson, Client Director at NashTech: We begin with putting together a core team of team members in this case in Vietnam in Ho Chi Minh and it’s generally led by the customer’s requirements. 

Dale would say these are the kinds of things that I have on my IT roadmap, the things that the business wants me to deliver. In some instances, we can’t help so we say no, but in most instances we can. So we work together to engineer and design the solution. 

And then we will build the team around that solution design so that we have the right people doing the right job at the right time. 

 

Dale Bradbury, Global IT Director at SLR: Our engagement with NashTech is still fairly new, but we’ve already delivered several solutions that impact our business or help our clients. 

From sustainable business cards, a room booking system for booking desks and parking spaces, an automated supplier management onboarding tool and a comprehensive client portal. We’ve also developed a range of tools that help staff with pricing and financial management.  

Our core mission is to make a positive impact for our clients across pillars of sustainability, drivers; economic social and environmental, and sustainability consulting. The most direct way we can achieve this is by doing our job well. 

NashTech help us do our job well and ensure we can provide cost-effective, scalable and high-quality software development. 

  

Stuart Simpson, Client Director at NashTech: Seen very much internally as an extension of Dale’s team, we have to jump too when the requirement changes.  

We have to be very adaptable and agile in our working practices and one of the biggest projects that we’re working on at the moment is in the finance area. 

We’re helping Dale deliver functionality back to his users, the business, by enhancing some of the functionality in a financial software product. 

With agile, we break that process down into fortnightly sprints and we agree at the beginning of the sprint what we’re going to deliver and at the end of the sprint we deliver it.  

Every 2 weeks there is something that is released back into the business, so the business gets to see progress, they get to see development, they get to see their value for money, very quickly. And that works very well with us and SLR.
