Driving smarter, faster insurance operations with enterprise AI

Driving smarter, faster insurance operations with enterprise AI

Listen to this post

Overview

NashTech worked with a regulated insurance organisation to build the foundations for enterprise AI. The goal was to create a secure, governed platform that could bring AI into everyday business processes without adding risk or complexity.

Using Microsoft Foundry and Azure OpenAI, NashTech delivered a platform that supports a broker-facing chatbot and automates document-heavy insurance tasks, including policy comparison, renewal assessment and structured data extraction. This helped the client reduce reliance on third-party tools and improve efficiency across high-volume manual work.

Because the client operates in a highly regulated environment, the platform was built with security, access controls, auditability and responsible AI adoption in mind. It gives the organisation a practical way to scale AI safely, while maintaining trust, oversight and alignment with data protection requirements.

The challenge

The client wanted to bring AI-driven automation into core insurance processes, while maintaining the security, governance and compliance standards required in a regulated environment.

To do this, the organisation needed to address several operational and technical challenges:

  • Managing high-volume, document-heavy workflows that require detailed analysis and comparison
  • Reducing manual effort while maintaining accuracy and consistency in decision-making
  • Ensuring AI-generated outputs remained transparent, explainable and auditable
  • Embedding AI into existing broker and operational workflows without disrupting established processes
  • Meeting strict regulatory, compliance and data protection requirements

The client needed a scalable AI foundation that could support multiple use cases, while preserving control, oversight and trust.

The solution

NashTech designed and delivered a governed AI platform using Microsoft Foundry and Azure OpenAI. The platform supports a broker-facing chatbot and helps automate document-heavy insurance processes, including policy comparison, renewal assessment and structured data extraction.

The solution brings together conversational AI, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and multi-agent orchestration to analyse documents, apply context and produce structured outputs. It integrates with existing broker and operational workflows, while giving the client flexibility to add new AI use cases over time.

Security and governance were built into the platform from the outset. With enterprise guardrails, controlled access and auditability, the client can adopt AI responsibly in a regulated environment, reduce reliance on higher-cost third-party tools and improve efficiency across manual workflows.

The solution included:

  • A governed AI platform for broker-facing and internal operational use cases
  • Microsoft Foundry and Azure OpenAI to support scalable enterprise AI
  • Conversational AI, RAG and multi-agent orchestration for document analysis and structured outputs
  • Built-in guardrails, access controls and auditability to support responsible AI use
  • A reusable architecture that allows new use cases to be added without rebuilding the platform

This provides the client with a secure, scalable foundation for broader AI adoption across the organisation.

Why NashTech

NashTech’s expertise in AI, enterprise platforms and regulated environments enabled the delivery of a solution that balances innovation with control.

By building governance and flexibility into the platform from the outset, NashTech created a foundation that enables the client to scale AI adoption with confidence, embedding intelligence into core operations while maintaining trust, transparency and compliance.
